Riding Holidays on Exmoor

Bring your own horse or else hire a horse......

Exmoor offers some of the best riding country in England so why not bring your horse with you and enjoy a holiday together! You can ride across heather-clad moors, down the wooded valleys or along the coast using some 400 miles of Exmoor bridle paths. Roadwork is minimal from all properties. Access to stunning moorland is easy.

Several members of the Exmoor Holiday Group provide high quality stabling and services for riders. All of the establishments offering holidays for horses are open all year. You stay in quality, inspected and graded Bed & Breakfast or Self Catering farm and country accommodation and your horse is stabled close by. Most of our members can provide turnout if you require it. Have a look at our Stabling List below to select the accommodation for you and your horse. Stabling is available from as little as £7 per night. Instructors, farriers, vets and every manner of equine expertise are available at reasonable cost. Ordnance survey maps are available for loan. Some properties also offer guided routes marked on maps with notes to help you on your way. Some offer a ridden escort. Alternatively, when you stay in any of the Exmoor Holiday Group accommodation, whether Bed & Breakfast or Self Catering, the owners will be happy to suggest where you can hire suitable horses nearby.

Stabling List

The properties in our Stabling List all provide high quality stabling for your horse and there is usually turnout available. The property owners can advise you on the best rides, most of which have direct access to the moors or down the valleys and a minimal amount of lane work. Many of the owners provide guide route maps and some offer guided rides. You can choose between Self Catering or Bed & Breakfast accommodation for yourself and be close to your horse.
